QUARTERLY GOALS: Q3 Review & Q4 New Goals

We have come to the end of another quarter, dear Writing Desk Readers!

I hope everyone accomplished the tasks they set out for themselves for Q3, whether they were writing/business or personal goals.

Time to review the list of goals that I outlined at the beginning of the third quarter, and see how I did.

2017-Q3 Goals:

1) Complete first 10,000 words of Book Project #1 and complete at least half of the second 10,000. (15,000 minimum). This is a slower writing pace than I normally shoot for, but at least this way I'll be pleasantly surprised if I'm able to work a little faster.
- DONE and DONE SOME MORE! I am officially at 22,000 words for Book Project #1, thanks in large part to the writing #ChanceChallenge sponsored by YA author Kim Chance.

2) Plan and outline all regular blog posts for Q3. (Excluding Bonus Posts)
-  I did this! It was so much easier to blog each week with the 1-2 main posts planned out.

3) Outline, announce, and implement both new social media projects for the blog.
-  Outlining? Check. Announcing? Half-check. Implementing? Um...Almost-check! The first project I had in mind was the giveaway of three (that's right, THREE) copies of "Carolina Crimes: 21 Tales of Need, Greed, & Dirty Deeds". This is happening, it just didn't quite happen in Q3. The second project coming down the pipeline is planned out, but not quite ready to be announced and set into motion. However, it will be ready soon!

4) Get back to my normal(ish) reading level. 4-6 books per month.
-  This was done! I'm so happy to be reading more often now. Give me all the books!

5) Publish a "What Am I Reading Wednesday" post every other week.
- I was able to accomplish this for the most part, though there were a few exceptions. I'm giving myself half a point on this one.

Final Score: 4/5 goals accomplished! (3 whole goals + 2 halves)

Not too shabby! Let's move on to my new goals for the fourth quarter of 2017.

2017-Q4 Goals:

1) Hold my first GIVEAWAY! (Official announcement and start of entry period will be posted by this weekend!)

2) Announce and implement the second project I devised in Q3. I truly hope everyone enjoys this, it's something I've never done before as a writer.

3) This is the big one. COMPLETE my 60,000 word count goal for Book Project #1 by Thanksgiving! Or, at the very latest, by New Years.

4) Start sending out sections of Book Project #1 to my critique partners. They've actually already read the first few pages and a short synopsis I put together for them. So, we're off to a good start!

5) Start edits for Book Project #1, based on critique partner review, to plan for the beta-reader phase.

Again, not a large number of goals to begin with, however we are entering into the holiday season very soon (I count Halloween as one of those holidays!) and this feels like a good place to start. If I'm able to get all of these plus more, then great!

What are your goals for this final quarter of 2017? How are you keeping track? What methods do you use to keep yourself accountable?

Best of luck, everyone!
