Australian Bushfires: How You Can Help

Hello Writing Desk Readers,

I thought it was best to push back my first planned blog post of the new year and share this instead. 

By now, hopefully everyone has heard of the bushfires raging across Australia. Information about the scope and effects of the fires can be found here (BBC). More information about the causes of the fires, the estimated damage done so far, and loss of life can be found here (CNN).

Thankfully, there are people coming forward to help. To name just a few: The US and Canada have sent firefighters to aid the Australian fire services, a group from the Australian Islamic Center drove four hours to bring food and water to the working firefighters, and there have been spectacular fundraisers sponsored by public figures like @sarahs_day, @emilyskyefit, and @celestebarber.

I was really thinking about this over the last week. While my platform might be a small one, it's still out there in the world and I do reach people, and I thought I could at least help by sharing information and donation resources.
