What Am I Reading Wednesday (10/24/2018)

Believe it or not, I'm already thinking about my goals for Q1 of 2019. (I know, I haven't talked about Q4 for 2018 yet, but will be a wrap-up of those coming soon!)

One of my key goals for next year is to get the regular What Am I Reading Wednesday posts back on the schedule. It's not that I haven't been reading this whole time, but the book sharing posts have gotten lost in the shuffle.

Let's kick things off with the first What Am I Reading Wednesday post of Q4!

Title: Honeymoon

Author: James Patterson & Howard Roughan

First Reading: Nope!

Initial Impression: A perfect vacation read.

Final Thoughts: This is another of Patterson's books that I'd like to see turned into a movie. The characters are richly developed, and Nora Sinclair is one of those characters who keeps you guessing right until the end!

HONEYMOON is a book that I've read a couple of times now. It's a fast-paced story that holds your attention the entire time, and an ideal choice to bring along on vacation.

Keeping this post spoiler-free is a challenge, because HONEYMOON begins with a couple of scenes that immediately grab the reader and throws them into the web Nora has spun for the rest of the characters involved. This book is actually one of the examples Patterson sites in his online MasterClass. He uses these opening scenes as a walk through of his idea-development process. It's one of my favorite installments from his class series. Being able to see how an author as experienced as Patterson takes a kernel of an idea and develops it from there, really helped me to see how effective, or in some cases ineffective, my own process was at the time.

About the Author:

James Patterson has created more enduring fictional characters than any other novelist writing today with his Alex Cross, Michael Bennett, Women’s Murder Club, Private, NYPD Red, Daniel X, Maximum Ride, and Middle School series. As of January 2016, he has sold over 375 million books worldwide and currently holds the Guinness World Record for the most #1 New York Times bestsellers.

In addition to writing the thriller novels for which he is best known, Patterson also writes fiction for young readers of all ages, including the Max Einstein series, produced in partnership with the Albert Einstein archives. He is also the first author to have #1 new titles simultaneously on the New York Times adult and children’s bestseller lists.
