What Am I Reading Wednesday - Christmas Countdown (12/20/17)
As we make our way through the last week leading up to Christmas, I am pleased to announce the final author in the 2017 Christmas Countdown series: Kristen Martin!

First Reading: Yes
Initial Impression: Where are all of these amazing covers coming from? I must know! They were what first drew me to this series.
Final Thoughts: Kristen Martin has created a dystopian world that raises many questions about consciousness and the potential for outside forces to alter what we can see.
Imagine spending the first sixteen years of your life in a seemingly average world. Then suddenly you discover that you, and everyone you know, have not been really living your lives at all.
That is the reality Emery Parker, Kristen Martin's teen protagonist, must face at the start of the recently completed Alpha Drive Trilogy. She arrives at her new home, a boarding school, and is asked to join a secret group fighting to free the people of Earth from Dormance - a program that keeps all but a certain number of people all in a comatose state
The concept of Dormance as it is presented in the series, while not new, is intriguing all the same. Much like the alternate realities of 'The Matrix' or 'Inception', it's an eerie thing to imagine. Only in this case people were not given a choice between a red or blue pill. There is no trick to bring themselves out of the loop.
In addition to recently concluding the Alpha Drive Trilogy, Kristen has also published the first in a new dark fantasy series, Shadow Crown. It's already on the 2018 TBR list!
