QUARTERLY GOALS: 2020-Q1 Review & 2020-Q2 New Goals
Hey there, Writing Desk Readers!
A big thank you once again to everyone who entered the blog's 4th Anniversary Giveaway! The book prizes are in the mail, on their way to their new homes.
A lot, and I mean a LOT, has happened since I made the 2020-Q1 goals post in January. Honestly, as I went back through the list, I wasn't expecting to have accomplished much. One thing I like about doing these Quarterly Goals posts, besides the personal accountability, is that I know even if I don't complete something I can always add it to the next quarter's list. There's a comfort in knowing that, and we are in some pretty stressful times right now. Didn't finish all, or any, of your goals? That's fine. Haven't felt very motivated? That's fine too. There's no rule that says you have to be productive, whatever that word means to you, at this time unless you want to.
1) Maintain my new 2020 blog calendar and plan weekly blog posts for the rest of the quarter.
(Mostly done. I didn't plan quite as many posts as I wanted, but I'm happy with what's been done.)
2) Finish research for the sequel to Apparition. (Working title: Lily's Story)
(Again, mostly done. I'm waiting on one more reply from a subject-matter-expert I reached out to on a particular topic. And, of course, my travel-research plans are still on hold.)
3) Finish re-working the plot outline for Lily's Story, based on changes made during the re-write of Apparition.
(DONE)
4) Write the first 10,000 words of Lily's Story.
(Not even remotely done, and that's okay.)
5) Plan at least 5 author/writing industry professional interviews.
(3 out of 5 interviews scheduled, I'm counting that as a win!)
6) Start the What Am I Reading Wednesday posts again!
(DONE)
So, let's call that 4.5 out of 6 Q1 goals met. Not bad, all things considered.
2020-Q2 Goals:
1) Write the first 10,000 words of Lily's Story.
2) Read at least three books from my TBR pile. (For pleasure reading, non-research related.)
That's it. Those are my only goals for Q2 and I am perfectly alright with that.
How about everyone else? Did you meet any of your goals last quarter, or did you decide to take some time off? Either way, I'd love to know how everyone is doing!
