What Am I Reading Wednesday (11 December 2024)

It’s time for a long overdue What Am I Reading Wednesday!

Today we’re talking about The Marbhaven Reaper, the debut novel of my friend and fellow writer Maile Starr.

We’re also changing up the WAIRW format! I find the more involved I’ve gotten in writing and publishing my own books, the less time I have for longer blog posts, and then I end up skipping WAIRW altogether. We can't have that!

So I can continue to share books that I’ve read and enjoyed, I’m condensing the usual sections into one review.

Title:
The Marbhaven Reaper

Author: Maile Starr

Review:

"This is the fifth time I've died this month." He shrugs. "Tell you what, I did not expect my Reaper to be this close."

I was fortunate to be a beta reader for this book and let me tell you, I can't wait to find out what happens next! I immediately fell in love with the complex relationships between the characters. Not only that, Starr was able to weave in a unique and refreshing world centered around the idea of death and what happens after a person dies.

Without giving away any spoilers, I especially enjoyed the method in which a person in this world might enter the afterlife!

Fun Fact: The cover for The Marbhaven Reaper was created by none other than Maldo Designs, who also happens to be my cover designer for the Kingsport Chronicles!
