A HUNGER GAMES Prequel Has Been Announced
Happy Friday, Writing Desk Readers!
Scholastic confirmed this week that there will be a prequel novel to Suzanne Collins' incredibly successful Hunger Games series. The book is scheduled for release on May 19, 2020.
The first Hunger Games book was released in 2008. Now, over a decade after the series hit the shelves, we'll be seeing an even more sinister side to the dystopian world Collins created, literally the "Dark Days" following the first rebellion.
While I'm looking forward to learning more about this world Collins created, especially the early days of the Hunger Games, there's always going to be the question: When is it time to leave a series alone? Are die-hard Hunger Games fans going to feel the same way, despite the fact that this book takes place before Katniss Everdeen was even born?
What do you think, Writing Desk Readers? If you're satisfied with the way a favorite book series ends, do you want to see those characters stay as they are? Or, are you excited by the prospect of new/prequel story lines becoming available?
